We are Martha and Aidan, a married couple who trade stocks and make an extra income doing so. We are neither billionaires nor professional investors. Rather, we are regular people who use a method of short-term trading from which we have successfully earned a steady stream of income. What’s more, we have established a record of always making a profit with every stock we sell. And we believe you can also.

Our method is not a “get rich quick” scheme. We can’t promise that you’ll make millions and millions of dollars in the span of 6 months or a year. The truth is that anybody who promises you such riches is not being honest with you. While we haven’t made vast fortunes trading in the market, we do consistently beat the market in our trading regardless of whether the market is up, down, or somewhere in between.

Ripple trading...or what does the beach have in common with the stock market?

We call our stock trading method Contrarian Ripple Trading. Yes, it sounds a bit complicated, but don’t be put off because it’s really not. We start from the basic premise that the stock market, and therefore also the individual stocks within it, ebbs and flows. Imagine a beach – the tide comes in at a certain point during the day and then goes out. Most of the time, however, waves break on the sands and as each wave subsides you will see left behind water that ripples from the wind and the force of the last wave. The stock market has its parallel movements.

This is not an original idea of ours, but one we borrowed from Robert Rhea, a Dow Theorist writing about the market back in the 1930s. Dow Theorists like Rhea are people who believe that if you study trends which recur in the stock market, you will be able to predict successfully future market moves. Rhea liked to use ocean metaphors when describing the stock market trends he looked for. For Rhea, “Tides” described primary trends in the market, otherwise known as bull or bear markets. “Waves” illustrated the intermediate or reaction trends in the market, otherwise known as rallies or corrections. The word “Ripples” then aptly described the short-term market and individual stock fluctuations that occur over the course of a few days or even within the course of a single trading day.

Contrarian ripple trading takes advantage of all these different movements but focuses particularly on the gentle, subtle movements which characterize a rippling market. Think about it – it is a relatively rare state of affairs when the stock market goes up and up day after day. Similarly, it’s unusual for it to plunge continuously day by day in a downward spiral. Most of the time, the market goes up for a day or two followed by a pull back for a couple of days. Our trading method exploits precisely this dynamic. And this is no one-shot approach. Ideally we profit again and again by “riding the ripples.” You can check out what this means by reading the “Riding the ripples!” section on this site.
